Located in the heart of Kapunda, just an hour north of Adelaide, the project is within the iconic Barossa tourism catchment, providing immediate brand recognition, and strong appeal to domestic and international markets. This key location will ensure the project is viable immediately based on domestic visitation estimates and will act as a safeguard for the project in the event of future international travel restrictions.
Drover’s Encounter will be a world-class, authentic destination and visitor attraction. A place where locals and visitors can enjoy culinary, cultural and entertainment experiences discovering the unique heritage of this historic region. Drover’s Encounter will bring to life iconic stories from the region - tales of Cattle King Sir Sidney Kidman, of the Traditional Owners and custodians of this Country who shaped the land, and of the pastoral lives that continue to define the region to this day. A place about locals and for locals, Drover’s Encounter will also revitalise Kapunda as a national and international tourist destination. It will offer family-friendly experiences in the region beyond food and wine. It will establish a new national benchmark for interactive, cultural Australian experiences.
Celebrating Australian and local icons with strong connections to Kapunda, Light Country and the Barossa Valley region.
This experiential visitor centre will showcase storytelling of the iconic Sir Sidney Kidman, Frederick Dutton, Seppelt Family and others, alongside Traditional Owner perspectives and native food experiences.
