Roving Rovers Global Outreach Platform
Roving Rovers is an approachable digital lunar analog for developing rovers and colonies on the moon. This simulation fits a key grant and resourcing requirement for global space industry members, allowing them to deliver their custom content to users through an entertaining experience that keeps the target audience engaged for hours rather than moments.
Enigmanaut Labs has supplied this service to multiple space industry members over the last 2 years, and is looking to expand the install base from local kiosks and events to a global platform.
Current key clients include:
- The Australian Rover Challenge
- Saber Astronautics
- The ELO2 Consortium
- The Australian Space Agency
- The University of Adelaide.
Organisations currently negotiating services to be delivered in 2025 include:
- The Canadian Space Agency
- NASA
- Lunar Outpost(US branch)
- Vast
- Plants for Space.
As a digital lunar analog that prioritises engagement mixed with accuracy, the service Roving Rovers supplies to the space industry is uniquely comprehensive, and significantly more cost efficient and effective compared to any potential competitors. The platform users industry standard practises to deliver specific scientific content through its narrative, mechanics and systems.
It is far more effective to communicate the difficulties and opportunities of lunar exploitation when users are able to experience attempting to develop a colony in the face of devastating micro-meteorite impacts, harsh storms of shrapnel dust and the uniquely unpleasant temperature fluctuations of the moon instead of simply hearing about it.
This analog can be delivered through consoles, tables, personal computers and virtual reality devices, and occupies users for long sessions. It can be applied cross discipline, and is a uniquely effective tool for marketing, advertising, outreach and engagement.
This project is about expanding the Roving Rovers platform into the global marketplace. At this time, the experience is only available locally, or in demo form. It is built bespoke to the needs of the client and event that it will be showcased at. The goal is instead to redevelop it into a mid scale entertainment product that can be used to tap into the global gaming market. With a userbase of 100,000 consistent users, the metrics this product will collect will solve almost all of the space industries outreach needs. This will dramatically scale the reach of the content the project delivers, and in turn dramatically scale the commercial applications of the project.
Investment opportunity
Enigmanaut Labs(EMT) has secured a no-equity funding plan from the University of Adelaide(UoA) to support the development and expansion of their lunar analog, Roving Rovers, onto a global platform in 2026. This will ensure it generates revenue through mutliple commercial ventures, while also accessing a consistent userbase of at least 100,000 that can be used as part of the other outreach and engagement services offered by EMT.
As part of this funding plan, EMT is seeking partners to take on a supporting funding role. The university will fund $250,000 of the target $500,000 over 16 months, in 4 tranches.
In order to facilitate a 2026 launch of the Roving Rovers analog onto a global platform to secure a userbase of 100,000 users, EMT is offering a 5% equity stake in exchange for the remaining $250,000 of the funding plan. Investors must be comfortable delivering funds in 4 tranches in lock-step with UoA.
