Stars align for Myriota’s ASEAN partnership
South Australia’s space ecosystem has been given a boost with one of the state’s leading space technology companies, Myriota, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesia’s leading satellite service provider Telkomsat in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The agreement will create more reliable, affordable and resilient connectivity, particularly in remote areas where traditional networks don’t reach, as the companies work together to accelerate the adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) technology across Indonesia and the broader ASEAN region.
“In signing this MoU, Myriota and Telkomsat are well positioned to rapidly explore IoT use cases and validate market opportunities across Indonesia, paving the way for clear commercialisation pathways,” said Dan Franklin, Director Regional Sales at Myriota. “It reflects our shared commitment to enabling meaningful, scalable IoT connectivity across Indonesia’s industries and its vast, geographically diverse environments.”
Myriota, a global leader in secure, low-cost and long-battery-life global connectivity using IoT technology, will support remote monitoring in the ASEAN region. The company’s technology enables remote ground-based monitoring sensors to communicate at low-cost via satellite signals for use by farmers and other businesses to access data.
The remote monitoring will be applied across major industries including maritime and fisheries, energy, agriculture, mining and environmental and disaster monitoring – each projected to become one billion-dollar markets within five years.
Indonesia is the largest country in the ASEAN region, which collectively, represents more than 600 million people and is on track to be the world’s fourth largest economy by 2040.
The South Australian Government recently identified Southeast Asia as a priority growth market in its Trade and Investment Strategy to 2030 due to the region’s rapid economic growth and close geographic proximity.
